ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has once again been recognized by the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) for its outstanding contribution to national revenue generation, earning multiple honors during the 2026 Taxpayers Appreciation Awards held at the Paynesville City Hall.
At the ceremony, which celebrated 46 of Liberia’s leading taxpayers, businesses, institutions, and partners, AML was recognized as Liberia’s highest contributor in the Natural Resource Tax Sector, the country’s third-highest overall taxpayer, and the highest custom duty paying concessionaire for Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025.
The awards were presented as Liberia recorded its highest-ever domestic revenue performance, highlighting the growing importance of tax compliance and private sector contributions to national development.
The recognition reflects the company’s continued commitment to responsible business operations, compliance with national tax obligations, and long-term investment in Liberia’s development.
As one of Liberia’s largest investors and concessionaires, ArcelorMittal Liberia remains committed to supporting national growth through sustainable mining, infrastructure development, job creation, and meaningful contributions to government revenue.
The LRA awards recognize taxpayers that demonstrate excellence in timely payments, consistent compliance, and significant revenue contributions. According to LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah, Liberia exceeded its domestic revenue target of US$804 million in 2025, marking the highest revenue mobilization in the country’s history.
This latest recognition adds to AML’s longstanding record of tax compliance and contribution to Liberia’s economy. Over the years, the company has consistently ranked among the country’s top taxpayers and has previously received recognition from the LRA for meeting its tax obligations and supporting domestic revenue generation.
As Liberia’s largest mining concessionaire, AML continues to play a major role in the country’s economy through royalty payments, taxes, customs duties, infrastructure investment, and employment generation. The company’s operations in mining, rail, and port infrastructure remain key contributors to economic activity in Nimba, Bong, and Grand Bassa Counties.
The annual Taxpayers Appreciation Awards, launched by the LRA in 2017, aim to recognize compliant taxpayers, encourage voluntary tax compliance, and strengthen public participation in national development through taxation.
Held under the theme “From Vision to Reality: Taxpayers Delivering a Billion Dollar Budget,” this year’s celebration brought together government officials, businesses, development partners, and citizens to honor institutions driving Liberia’s revenue growth.
For ArcelorMittal Liberia, the latest awards reinforce its role not only as a major investor in Liberia’s mining sector but also as a strategic partner in the country’s broader economic development agenda.
