The Ministry of Health has begun developing gender-sensitive and socially inclusive communication materials aimed at strengthening public awareness and response to neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) across Liberia.
The initiative was disclosed Thursday by Presidential Press Secretary Daniel O. Sando during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing in Monrovia.
According to Sando, the working session is focused on creating effective health communication messages that consider gender equality, social inclusion, and safeguarding principles to improve health outcomes, particularly among vulnerable populations.
He said the initiative is intended to address challenges related to social exclusion and ensure that all communities, regardless of their circumstances, have access to critical health information, prevention messages, and treatment services.
Sando explained that the Ministry of Health remains committed to strengthening inclusive healthcare programs as Liberia continues efforts to eliminate neglected tropical diseases.
He added that improving communication strategies will play a key role in increasing public understanding, encouraging early treatment, and ensuring that affected populations are not left behind in the country’s health interventions.
The Ministry of Health’s effort forms part of broader national actions to improve disease prevention, health education, and access to quality healthcare services across Liberia.
