The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Liberia’s efforts to strengthen the rule of law and combat growing threats associated with transnational crime, illicit trafficking, and financial crimes.
The commitment was highlighted during a meeting between U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Joe Zadrozny and Liberia’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, where both officials discussed the longstanding partnership between the two countries and ongoing cooperation to improve Liberia’s justice system.
During the engagement, Chargé Zadrozny emphasized the United States’ continued support for Liberia’s justice institutions, particularly efforts aimed at strengthening law enforcement capacity and ensuring that criminal networks are held accountable.
He noted that the partnership between the two countries remains focused on addressing major security challenges, including organized crime, human trafficking, drug-related offenses, and illicit financial activities that threaten communities and national development.
Through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the United States has continued to provide assistance to Liberia’s Ministry of Justice in several critical areas.
The support includes initiatives to combat trafficking in persons, reduce drug demand, strengthen counternarcotics operations, and enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies.
The U.S. Embassy said it values its partnership with Liberia’s Ministry of Justice and expressed its willingness to continue working with Liberian authorities to advance justice, improve security, and reinforce the rule of law.
The renewed commitment comes as Liberia continues efforts to strengthen its justice institutions and respond to emerging security challenges through international cooperation and capacity-building programs.
