The Government of Liberia has begun deploying heavy-duty road equipment, commonly known as “yellow machines,” to counties across the country as part of efforts to improve road connectivity, ease transportation challenges, and support agricultural activities.
Making the disclosure Thursday during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing in Monrovia, Presidential Press Secretary Daniel O. Sando said the deployment is intended to address major road challenges affecting communities, particularly in rural areas.
Sando explained that the equipment will be distributed among counties based on their road infrastructure needs, with Grand Bassa County among the first beneficiaries of the intervention.
He disclosed that the machines are expected to begin operations in Grand Bassa County as early as November, while Grand Gedeh County is scheduled to receive its share of the equipment on July 24.
According to Sando, the government’s decision to deploy the equipment goes beyond road rehabilitation, as the machines will also support agricultural activities by improving access to farming communities and enhancing the movement of goods and services.
He described the initiative as one of the government’s major development interventions ahead of Liberia’s 179th Independence Anniversary celebration, emphasizing that improved road infrastructure remains critical to national growth.
Sando said the deployment of the yellow machines demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps and ensuring that citizens across the country benefit from development programs.
