The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Augustine Ngafuan, has called on women working at the ministry to intensify their efforts toward national development for the benefit of future generations.
Minister Ngafuan praised female employees at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) for the sacrifices they continue to make in ensuring that government agencies, ministries, and commissions are adequately considered in the national budget process.
He made the remarks during a Mother’s Day celebration organized by the Professional Women Association at the ministry in Monrovia over the weekend.
According to Ngafuan, women at the ministry play a critical role in strengthening public service delivery and sustaining the country’s development agenda through their contributions to national fiscal planning and administration.
Delivering the keynote address at the program, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Leymah Gbowee encouraged the women to improve their educational and professional standards in order to excel in their various departments.
Madam Gbowee urged the women to remain committed to self-development and capacity building, noting that academic advancement remains key to professional growth and leadership opportunities.
She also advised the women to properly manage their finances to enable them support their personal wellbeing and provide for their families.
At the close of the program, several members of the Professional Women Association, along with senior staff from various departments of the ministry, were honored and certificated for their dedication and seriousness in the discharge of their duties.
