The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) on Wednesday distributed relief items valued at approximately L$200,000 to residents in Monrovia as part of what the organization described as its community outreach initiative.
The distribution included umbrellas, market support materials, scholarships for students, a pledge to provide Starlink internet services, and cash assistance to selected beneficiaries.
Speaking during the event, CMC National Vice Chairperson for Mobilization and Recruitment, Musa Kamara, said the initiative was intended to support vulnerable residents and improve livelihoods through practical assistance.
According to Kamara, the organization is seeking to provide support to market women, students, and other community members facing economic challenges.
As part of the exercise, CMC distributed 10 chairs and 10 sets of market tools to small business owners and local traders to help strengthen their businesses. Scholarships were also awarded to selected students to assist them in continuing their education.
Kamara further disclosed that the organization has pledged to facilitate the installation of Starlink internet services in targeted communities to improve internet access and expand educational and information resources.
He said improved digital connectivity would help bridge communication gaps and create greater opportunities for learning and development.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, describing the assistance as timely amid the country’s current economic challenges.
The Citizens Movement for Change said it plans to continue similar community-based initiatives in other parts of the country as part of its outreach activities.
