Monrovia-Residents of Stephen Tolbert Estate in Montserrado County District #12 are benefiting from a newly renovated community stadium following an intervention by Musa Kamara, Mobilization and Recruitment Vice Chair of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC).
The renovation focused primarily on rehabilitating the stadium’s roof and improving its seating capacity, transforming the facility from a deteriorating recreational ground into a more suitable venue for sports and community activities.
For years, the stadium had suffered from neglect and deterioration, leaving young people in Stephen Tolbert Estate and surrounding communities without an adequate facility for sporting and recreational activities.
Kamara said the intervention was motivated by his commitment to community development and youth empowerment, rather than political considerations.
“This goes beyond politics. It is about giving back to the people and creating opportunities for our young people to develop their talents through sports,” Kamara said.
He noted that sports can play an important role in promoting unity, peace and talent development among young people, particularly at the community level.
Several youths and residents who participated in the renovation work welcomed the intervention, describing the rehabilitation as a timely boost to sporting activities in the community.
They said the improved facility would provide young people with a space to engage in sports while also creating opportunities for greater community interaction and youth engagement.
The rehabilitation is expected to contribute to the revival of grassroots football and other sporting activities in District #12, while providing a platform for young athletes to develop and potentially pursue opportunities beyond their communities.
