MONROVIA – Liberian businessman and supporter of the ruling Unity Party, George Kailondo Sr., has criticized the administration of Joseph Boakai over the removal of Emma Metieh Glasco as Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority.
Speaking on Okay FM, Cllr. Kailondo argued that Liberia’s fisheries sector received little public attention before Madam Glasco’s appointment to the leadership of NaFAA.
According to him, Glasco’s leadership and international engagement helped elevate the sector’s profile and contributed to attracting millions of dollars in support from the World Bank.
He further alleged that some supporters of the ruling Unity Party who were interested in occupying the position manipulated the process that eventually led to her removal from office.
The businessman maintained that Madam Glasco was making significant progress at the fisheries authority and should have been retained to continue ongoing reforms and development initiatives within the sector.
Cllr. Kailondo added that if he were President of Liberia, he would have kept Glasco in the role to allow her to continue the work she had started at NaFAA.
