MONROVIA – During his appearance sometimes ago on Spoon Talk, Ambassador Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh, was made aware of plans to dismiss him over the brawl with the House of Representatives. Despite, he sounded defiant, insisting it was choice between his conscience and national duty.

About a week down the line, President Joseph Boakai’s axe has fallen on on the Ambassador-at-Large for Special Duties and Special Presidential Envoy, as he has been relieved of his duties with immediate effective.
A communication from by the Executive Mansion issued on Monday, June 8, cited concerns stemming from recent public statements attributed to Ambassador Kouyateh regarding the Honorable House of Representatives.
President Boakai said the matter was further compounded by communications from the House of Representatives expressing a Vote of No Confidence in Kouyateh’s continued service, prompting executive action.
President Boakai stressed the importance of maintaining constructive engagement and mutual respect among Liberia’s three branches of government, noting that national progress depends on strong institutional cooperation.
“The success of Liberia’s national development agenda depends on constructive engagement, mutual respect, and effective collaboration among the three coordinate branches of Government,” the President emphasized.
The Liberian leader also highlighted the significance of intergovernmental cooperation in advancing the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, his administration’s blueprint for national transformation. He noted that achieving the agenda’s objectives requires harmonious working relationships among public institutions in pursuit of the common good.
While announcing the dismissal, President Boakai thanked Ambassador Kouyateh for his service to the country and extended best wishes for his future endeavors.
The development marks a significant political move as the administration seeks to preserve cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches while advancing key national development priorities.
