MONROVIA – The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) has dismissed reports claiming it was invited by Consolidated Group Incorporated to facilitate the placement of the Liberia National Television (LNTV) on the DStv platform, describing the reports as false and misleading.
Speaking in an interview with ELBC, LBS Director General Eugene Fahngon said the reports were intended to distract the public and urged Liberians not to give credence to the publication.
Fahngon also called on media institutions to uphold the ethics of journalism by verifying information before publication.
According to him, fact-checking is essential to maintaining public trust and preserving the credibility of the media.
Meanwhile, the LBS Director General disclosed that the institution is directly engaging DStv Global to secure the placement of LNTV on the satellite television platform.
He revealed that a delegation from DStv Global is expected in Liberia soon as part of the ongoing discussions.
Fahngon said the objective of the engagement is to provide both Liberians and foreign audiences with greater access to news and developments from Liberia through an international broadcasting platform.
He thanked DStv Global for what he described as its continued partnership with LBS, noting that the collaboration is important to the institution’s expansion efforts.
The LBS Director General reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to ensuring that LNTV is eventually carried on the DStv platform.
