MONROVIA – Bong County Senator Prince K. Moye has called on 424 newly graduated officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) to serve with integrity, professionalism, and patriotism, describing them as key contributors to Liberia’s peace, security, and nation-building efforts.
Delivering the keynote address at the graduation ceremony of Batch Eight of the Liberia Immigration Service in-service training program in Gbarnga on Monday, June 29, Senator Moye emphasized that the responsibilities of immigration officers extend far beyond guarding the country’s borders.
He urged the graduates to see themselves as “architects of peace and nation-building,” stressing that they have a critical role in protecting Liberia’s sovereignty, maintaining national security, and facilitating the lawful movement of people across the country’s borders.
According to Senator Moye, effective border management is fundamental to preserving peace, promoting economic growth, combating transnational crime, and enhancing Liberia’s standing within the international community.
He further encouraged the newly commissioned officers to work collaboratively with other security institutions while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights. He noted that immigration officers often serve as the first point of contact for international visitors and therefore play an important role in shaping the country’s image.
The Bong County lawmaker also issued a strong warning against corruption, discrimination, and the abuse of authority, describing such practices as a betrayal of the public trust and a threat to national security.
Congratulating the 424 graduates on the successful completion of their training, Senator Moye urged them to carry out their duties with integrity, courage, compassion, and a deep sense of national service.
He expressed confidence that the new officers will make meaningful contributions to safeguarding Liberia’s borders and supporting the country’s peace, stability, and sustainable development.
