Monrovia-The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) and the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) have reviewed progress on plans to establish the proposed Lake Piso Special Tourism Economic Zone in Grand Cape Mount County.
The review brought together officials from both institutions to assess key steps toward developing Lake Piso into a major eco-tourism destination.
The meeting was led by LSEZA Executive Chairman Prince A. Wreh and LNTA Director General Princess Eva Cooper.
According to the two agencies, discussions focused on a draft implementation plan, project concept, monitoring framework, project timeline, and communication strategy.
The officials also reviewed plans to ensure community participation and gender inclusion are incorporated into the development of the proposed tourism zone.
The latest discussions form part of ongoing collaboration between LSEZA and LNTA to promote specialized tourism zones in Liberia.
The collaboration follows a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions aimed at jointly developing tourism zones across the country.
Lake Piso, one of Liberia’s important natural areas, is expected to benefit from the proposed initiative through increased tourism development and greater community participation.
The agencies said the ongoing planning is intended to provide a clear framework for moving the Lake Piso Special Tourism Economic Zone from concept to implementation.
