The Director of Radio at the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Madam Musu Sirleaf, has urged graduates of ELWA Academy to remain determined, disciplined, and committed to education, describing learning as the foundation for achieving a brighter future.
Madam Sirleaf delivered the keynote address at the 22nd Kindergarten Class Graduation Ceremony of ELWA Academy for the 2025/2026 academic year, where she congratulated the graduating class and encouraged the young learners to continue pursuing excellence throughout their educational journey.
Speaking on the theme, “Preparing for a Better Future Through Education,” Madam Sirleaf emphasized that success requires determination, focus, and the development of positive values from an early age.
She told the graduates that while no one knows what the future holds, every child has the opportunity to build a successful future through hard work, discipline, and commitment to education.
According to Madam Sirleaf, students must cultivate positive attitudes such as obedience, respect, kindness, love, and acceptance of parental guidance, noting that these values play an important role in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders.
She described the graduation ceremony as a significant milestone in the lives of the students, marking the beginning of a longer educational journey filled with opportunities and challenges.
Madam Sirleaf encouraged the graduates to choose their friends carefully and avoid negative influences that could affect their academic progress. She cautioned against involvement in harmful activities, including drugs and criminal behavior, while urging students to balance recreation with their studies.
“The best property your parents can give you is education,” she said, reminding the graduates that education is a valuable investment that provides lifelong opportunities.
Addressing parents, Madam Sirleaf commended them for their sacrifices and commitment to ensuring that their children receive education despite economic challenges. She encouraged parents to remain actively involved in their children’s academic and social development by working closely with teachers, school administrators, Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and other education stakeholders.
She also praised teachers and school administrators for their dedication and sacrifices in preparing students for the future. Madam Sirleaf described educators as nation-builders whose contributions are essential to Liberia’s human resource development.
She urged teachers to continue upholding professional standards, promoting good values, and remaining committed to their role in shaping future generations.
As Liberia prepares to celebrate its 179th Independence Anniversary, Madam Sirleaf called on citizens to promote peace, unity, love, and harmony, while reaffirming that education remains a key driver of national development.
She concluded by congratulating the 22nd Kindergarten graduating class of ELWA Academy, Class of 2025/2026, and encouraged the students to remain focused as they continue their journey toward achieving their dreams.
