MONROVIA–A 28-year-old woman sustained injuries after a massive fire engulfed the top floor of a three-story building on 2nd Street, Sinkor, on Monday morning, prompting a swift response from the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS).
According to the LNFS, the fire broke out at approximately 8:06 a.m. and was successfully contained after firefighters from Station One, Station Five, and Station Six responded to the emergency. The operation was supported by a water tanker and a fire truck from the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC).
The firefighting operation was supervised by the LNFS Deputy Director for Operations, Col. Edwin Tisdell, alongside the LPRC Deputy Director, Lt. Col. Patrick S. Farley, who coordinated efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.
Authorities said the blaze completely destroyed the top floor of the building. During the incident, Delara Moses, 28, sustained injuries and was rushed to the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Center for medical treatment. Her condition was not immediately disclosed.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire, with the Liberia National Fire Service confirming that an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the LNFS is urging residents to observe fire safety precautions and to immediately report any fire outbreak to the nearest fire station or through designated emergency response channels.
The incident highlights the continued need for increased public awareness of fire prevention measures as authorities work to determine what sparked the blaze.
