President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. is in Istanbul, Turkiye having departed Liberia on Sunday for a working visit.
While in Turkiye, the President is expected to hold high-level meetings aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and attracting investment to Liberia.
An Executive Mansion statement said President Boakai’s visit will include bilateral talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between Liberia and Türkiye across several strategic sectors.
The discussions will focus on expanding collaboration in trade and investment, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, and technical cooperation, the Mansion said.
As part of his visit, President Boakai will also meet with leading Turkish business executives and investors to promote Liberia as an attractive investment destination. The engagements are intended to encourage greater private sector participation in Liberia’s development and attract new investments in key sectors of the economy.
The Liberian leader is accompanied by a small delegation, including Minister of State Without Portfolio Hadja Mamaka Bility and other senior government officials.
During the President’s absence, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Samuel A. Stevquoah will chair Cabinet meetings in consultation with Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, while maintaining regular communication with President Boakai, according to the Executive Mansion.
President Boakai is expected to return to Liberia at the end of the week following the conclusion of his official engagements in Türkiye.
The Executive Mansion described the visit as part of the Boakai administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Liberia’s international partnerships and expand opportunities for economic growth and foreign investment.
