MONROVIA -Residents of Kwiloken Community in Maryland County are expected to benefit from an ongoing road rehabilitation initiative spearheaded by Hon. Anthony F. Williams, following years of complaints over the deplorable condition of the community’s feeder road.
The intervention, which has already generated widespread attention and appreciation among residents and local leaders, is aimed at improving transportation access and easing the long-standing hardship faced by commuters, farmers, students, business people, and motorists using the road.
For several years, citizens of Kwiloken have struggled with serious transportation difficulties due to the deteriorating state of the feeder road, particularly during the rainy season when sections of the road become nearly impassable.
Residents say the poor condition of the road has negatively affected economic activities, access to healthcare services, education, and the movement of agricultural products to nearby markets.
According to community members, vehicles often find it difficult to enter the area, forcing residents to walk long distances to neighboring towns and market centers to conduct daily activities.
Recognizing the growing burden on residents, Hon. Anthony F. Williams reportedly initiated efforts to rehabilitate the road as part of his commitment to improving the living conditions of people in the community.
The project is expected to significantly reduce transportation barriers and strengthen connectivity between Kwiloken and surrounding communities.
Residents have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely and meaningful intervention that could positively impact both social and economic development in the area. Many believe the rehabilitation of the feeder road will improve the transportation of farm produce, encourage business activities, and create easier access to schools and health facilities.
“This road has been a major challenge for us for many years,” one resident told this paper. “During the rainy season, transportation becomes almost impossible. We are happy that attention is finally being given to this situation”, elder Nyemah disclosed.
Local citizens also praised Hon. Williams for responding to the concerns of the people and demonstrating what they described as a strong commitment to community development.
Several residents expressed optimism that the road project will be fully implemented and properly maintained to provide long-term benefits for future generations.
Community leaders further noted that improved road access could help strengthen interactions among neighboring communities, increase commercial activities, and create better opportunities for residents within the region.
As rehabilitation work continues, citizens are calling on stakeholders, local authorities, and community members to support the initiative to ensure the successful completion and sustainability of the project.
The development comes at a time when many rural communities across Liberia continue to advocate for improved road infrastructure as a means of promoting economic growth, reducing transportation difficulties, and improving the overall living conditions of citizens.
