Monrovia – The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, in partnership with UNICEF and Stella Maris Polytechnic University, has officially signed a Child Protection Curriculum Development Package aimed at strengthening Liberia’s child protection system and improving professional social work services across the country.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of frontline child protection actors and ensure the delivery of quality support services to vulnerable children and families. Officials say the program is expected to improve the knowledge and skills of social workers who play critical roles in child welfare and protection.
As part of the package, sixty social workers from different counties across Liberia will undergo specialized training designed to strengthen their technical expertise and professional capacity in child protection and social work practices.
The partnership between the Ministry, UNICEF, and Stella Maris University is also expected to contribute to the development of a more structured and sustainable training framework for social workers in Liberia. Stakeholders believe the initiative will help improve coordination, case management, and response mechanisms for children facing abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of vulnerability.
Officials at the signing ceremony described the initiative as a major step toward strengthening Liberia’s child protection system and ensuring that social workers are better equipped to respond to the growing needs of children and families nationwide.
