Monrovia , A 20-foot container truck transporting rubber from Nimba County to Monrovia has been completely destroyed by fire in what authorities describe as an unfolding incident.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the truck, reportedly owned by a rubber farmer identified only as Mr. Gaye from Nimba County, suddenly caught fire while en route to Monrovia. The blaze quickly engulfed the vehicle, reducing both the truck and its contents to ashes.
Despite the intensity of the fire, no casualties were reported. The driver, identified as Kamara, managed to escape unharmed after swiftly steering the burning truck off the highway, preventing what could have been a more dangerous situation.
Speaking at the scene, Moses D. Kulah of Zion Christian Fellowship Church described the incident and called for greater government support to emergency responders.
“I saw the truck burning. The truck caught fire, but the driver managed to quickly drive it off the road. It would have been very dangerous. We will recommend to the government so that the government can try to empower the Fire Service department. The fire service came late, but they did well. I appreciate the Fire Service of Liberia, on a serious note,” he said.
The Liberia National Fire Service responded to the scene, though witnesses noted that the response time was slow.
Authorities have yet to launch a formal investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Further details are expected as the situation develops.
