Monrovia-A Unity Party official has told partisans that while not everyone can be absorbed into government, the party will continue to engage and entertain its supporters at its headquarters.
Noah Gibson, speaking during the party’s Green Day celebration, urged UP loyalists to remain committed and to frequently spend time at the party headquarters.
“Everyone of them can’t be absorbed in government, but show up at the party headquarters where you will be entertained,” Gibson reportedly told the gathering.
Green Day, observed by the Unity Party as a day to celebrate its identity and mobilize its base, brought together hundreds of partisans at the party’s headquarters in Monrovia.
The event, marked by music, party colors, and speeches, also became a platform to address growing concerns among grassroots supporters over jobs and inclusion in the Boakai-led administration.
Since taking office in January 2024, the Unity Party government has faced pressure from its partisans who campaigned heavily and now expect appointments and employment opportunities.
Gibson’s remarks appear to be an attempt to manage expectations while assuring supporters that the party has not forgotten them.
According to attendees, Gibson was frank: the government has limited space and cannot employ all partisans at once.
Instead, he called on partisans to stay close to the party structure, participate in party activities, and use the HQ as a point of contact and community.
He said spending time at the headquarters would allow leadership to recognize loyal partisans and keep them engaged through party programs and entertainment.
The statement has sparked mixed reactions on social media and among party supporters. Some partisans welcomed the honesty, saying it was better than false promises.
Others expressed disappointment, arguing that they sacrificed during the 2023 campaign with the expectation of economic empowerment.
“The party needs to do more than entertain us at HQ. We need jobs, small business support, and opportunities,” one partisan told Verity News after the program.
The Unity Party is yet to release a formal plan for addressing partisan employment concerns, though senior officials have previously said the government is working to create jobs through investment, agriculture, and private sector growth, not just direct government appointments.
The Boakai administration has repeatedly stated its focus is on merit-based governance while balancing political loyalty.
Green Day ended with music and solidarity chants, but the message from Gibson — come to HQ, be patient, and stay engaged — is likely to continue the national conversation about jobs, loyalty, and governance under the UP-led government.
