Monrovia-Liberia’s Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has received the Public Service and Governance Excellence Award at the Innovate Africa Conference 2026 in recognition of his leadership, public service, and contributions to governance and national development.
The award was presented during the conference held on October 14, 2026, at the Kigali Serena Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda.
Dr. Augustine Konneh, Senior Advisor to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and head of the Liberian delegation, received the award on behalf of Vice President Koung.
According to a press release, the award recognizes Koung’s leadership and contributions to institutional development, good governance, and Liberia’s national progress.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice President, Dr. Konneh thanked the conference organizers for bringing together African leaders, business representatives, and development partners to discuss ways to promote development across the continent.
He conveyed Koung’s appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed the Vice President’s commitment to Africa’s development and stronger cooperation among countries of the Global South.
Konneh emphasized the importance of African countries sharing experiences, building partnerships, and working together to create economic opportunities and improve the lives of their citizens.
He also said Liberia was open for business and welcomed stronger cooperation with Rwanda, particularly in areas that could support investment, innovation, and sustainable development.
According to Konneh, partnerships between Liberia and other African countries could help promote economic growth and create opportunities for businesses and citizens.
He further expressed hope that a future edition of the Innovate Africa Conference could be hosted in Liberia, which he said would provide another opportunity to strengthen cooperation and promote the country’s development priorities.
However, conference organizers have reportedly indicated that neighboring Sierra Leone could host the next edition of the event.
Despite the uncertainty over the next host country, Konneh reaffirmed Liberia’s willingness to support initiatives aimed at strengthening partnerships and advancing shared prosperity across Africa.
The Innovate Africa Conference brings together stakeholders from different sectors to discuss development, innovation, investment, and cooperation among African countries.
Vice President Koung’s recognition at the conference places a spotlight on Liberia’s participation in regional engagement efforts and its stated interest in strengthening partnerships to support national development.
