MONROVIA-The Ministry of Education has selected and vetted 38 teachers from rural communities across Liberia’s 16 Education Counties to participate in a three-week Cultural Exchange Program in the People’s Republic of China.
The initiative is being implemented under the Ministry’s Teacher and Administrator Holistic Upgrading priority, which seeks to strengthen the knowledge, professional capacity, motivation, and overall development of educators across the country.
The selected teachers, who serve in communities outside Monrovia, are expected to gain exposure to China’s education system, teaching and learning methods, mentorship practices, and cultural experiences during the exchange.
The Ministry says the program is intended to expand opportunities for international professional development to educators serving in rural and underserved communities. Participants are expected to return to Liberia with knowledge and experiences that can contribute to improved teaching and learning in their respective schools.
During a pre-departure engagement with the delegation, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah urged the participating teachers to approach the exchange with seriousness and purpose.
Minister Jallah encouraged the teachers to remain focused throughout the three-week program and to return prepared to share the knowledge and experiences gained with their colleagues and communities.
Representing the delegation, Madam Christina H. Nyanfore expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education for providing the opportunity.
Madam Nyanfore pledged that the participating teachers would make meaningful use of the knowledge and experiences acquired during the exchange to support teaching and learning in their respective communities.
The Ministry of Education says it remains committed to expanding professional development opportunities for educators across Liberia, with particular attention to teachers working in rural and underserved areas.
The China exchange forms part of broader efforts by the Ministry to strengthen the capacity of teachers and administrators as a key component of improving the quality of education nationwide.
