The man suspected of taking the life of Oretha Paye in the Omega Old Field Community, Paynesville has been formally charged by the Liberia National Police (LNP).
Augustine Lendeh, commonly known as “T-Boy,” was recently arrested in Sierra Leone where he reportedly took flight in the aftermath of Ms Paye’s death.
LNP said the alleged incident of Oretha losing her life occurred on July 29, 2026, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Her comatose body was later discovered about 26 feet from the residence of á data are, with multiple injuries and showing no signs of life, police further disclosed.
The police charge sheet indicates that preliminary investigations began after the victim’s mother, Alice Flomo, reported that her daughter had gone to the residence of the accused to retrieve personal clothing but never returned home.
Investigators also stated that evidence gathered during the probe included information that the accused had allegedly assaulted the victim on a previous occasion.
Following the investigation, Augustine Lendeh was arrested in the Republic of Sierra Leone and subsequently turned over to Liberian authorities. He has since been charged with murder in violation of Section 14.1 of the New Penal Law of Liberia and forwarded to court for prosecution.
The LNP said the investigation remains ongoing and that the case will proceed through the judicial process in accordance with Liberian law.
The arrest and subsequent charge have drawn public attention, particularly among residents of Omega Old Field Community, who have been calling for justice for Oretha Paye and her family.
Authorities have assured the public that all legal procedures will be followed as the matter moves forward.
