Monrovia-The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) has given property owners in Monrovia 15 calendar days to complete exterior repainting, repairs, and maintenance of their buildings, warning that failure to comply could result in fines and legal action.
In a public service announcement issued by its Department of Press and Public Affairs, the city government said some property owners have been repainting only the front façades of their buildings while neglecting the rear and side sections.
The MCC said the practice undermines the city’s appearance, uniformity, and overall beautification efforts.
According to the corporation, property owners are required to ensure that all exterior sections of their buildings, including the front, rear, and sides, are properly repainted and maintained, regardless of whether those sections are visible from the main street.
The directive applies to outstanding repainting, repairs, and other necessary exterior maintenance work.
The city government said the 15-day compliance period begins from the date of the notice, although the announcement did not specify a separate deadline.
The MCC warned that property owners who fail to comply within the stipulated period will face enforcement measures in accordance with the corporation’s administrative regulations and applicable city ordinances.
The enforcement measures may include the imposition of fines and legal proceedings against those who disregard the directive.
The corporation also announced plans to conduct follow-up inspections to determine whether property owners have complied with the requirements.
According to the announcement, the inspections will help the city government assess compliance and determine what enforcement actions may be necessary.
The directive forms part of the MCC’s efforts to improve Monrovia’s appearance and promote consistent standards of building maintenance throughout the city.
The corporation emphasized that maintaining only the front of a building while leaving the sides and rear sections unattended affects the overall appearance of the property and the surrounding environment.
It called on residents and property owners to take responsibility for maintaining their buildings and ensuring that all exterior sections meet acceptable standards.
The MCC reiterated that compliance is expected from all affected property owners within the 15-day period.
