Monrovia-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has commenced a regional consultation on the development of its Civic and Voter Education Strategy in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
The consultation is intended to gather views, concerns and recommendations from citizens, community leaders, civil society organizations, political actors and other stakeholders to inform the Commission’s approach to civic and voter education.
Speaking during the consultation, NEC Commissioner Ernestine Mongan-Awar said the exercise is designed to solicit the views of stakeholders across the regions and ensure that the strategy reflects the realities and needs of Liberian citizens.
Commissioner Mongan-Awar encouraged citizens and stakeholders to actively participate in the consultation by freely expressing their views and providing recommendations on the development of the strategy.
She said broad participation is essential to ensuring that the final strategy is inclusive, effective and responsive to the needs of the Liberian people.
The NEC is expected to use the views gathered from the regional consultations to inform the development of its Civic and Voter Education Strategy.
