Monrovia-More than 300 participants have benefited from a training program on human trafficking, cybercrime, and online scams organized by Teach For Liberia in partnership with the Liberia Anti-Trafficking, Anti-Scam & Victim Support Initiative (LATSVSI).
The training, conducted on Thursday, October 24, 2026, was intended to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of human trafficking, online fraud, cybercrime, and other forms of exploitation.
According to a press release issued by LATSVSI, the initiative was organized in response to growing concerns about trafficking and scam-related activities affecting communities across Liberia.
The partnership seeks to equip young people with the knowledge to identify warning signs, recognize potential threats, and take appropriate steps to protect themselves from exploitation in their communities and online.
LATSVSI commended Teach For Liberia for initiating the program, describing the collaboration as an important step toward protecting young people and promoting awareness of issues that threaten their safety, dignity, and future.
The organization also highlighted the importance of reaching young people associated with Teach For Liberia, which reportedly works with more than 14,000 young people across the country.
According to LATSVSI, educating young people about the risks of human trafficking and online scams is essential to reducing their vulnerability and helping them make informed decisions.
The organization emphasized that awareness and prevention programs can help young people recognize fraudulent schemes, avoid potentially dangerous situations, and seek assistance when they encounter suspected cases of trafficking or exploitation.
“Protecting our young people begins with educating them about the dangers they face,” LATSVSI stated, emphasizing the importance of education in preventing exploitation and strengthening community protection.
The initiative also highlights the role of partnerships between educational institutions, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders in addressing human trafficking and cybercrime.
LATSVSI has therefore encouraged other institutions, schools, youth-focused organizations, and community groups across Liberia to organize similar awareness programs to help protect young people from trafficking, fraud, and online exploitation.
The organization noted that coordinated action, public education, and strategic partnerships are important in addressing these challenges and building safer communities.
LATSVSI further reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant institutions and stakeholders to promote awareness, prevent exploitation, and provide support to victims of human trafficking and scams.
The collaboration between Teach For Liberia and LATSVSI forms part of efforts to strengthen youth protection through education and awareness, with the aim of helping young people recognize potential dangers and make informed decisions about their safety.
The organization maintained that investing in youth education and prevention initiatives is essential to building a safer and more secure future for Liberia.
