Monrovia- The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has welcomed the Government of Liberia’s efforts to develop a National Communications Strategy aimed at improving public information management, strengthening transparency, and enhancing communication between government institutions and citizens.
In a statement issued in Monrovia on October 17, 2026, the Ministry said a coordinated approach to government communication would help ensure that the public receives timely, accurate, and consistent information about government policies, programs, and activities.
The proposed strategy was discussed during a one-day validation workshop organized by the Ministry of Information on Friday, October 16, at the Charles Gbenyon Conference Hall on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.
The workshop brought together Public Relations Officers and representatives of various ministries, agencies, and commissions to review the draft strategy and make recommendations before its finalization.
According to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the strategy is intended to establish a common framework for planning, producing, and sharing official government information.
The framework is also expected to improve cooperation among government institutions, strengthen crisis communication, promote accountability, and build public confidence in government communication.
The Ministry noted that effective communication is essential to good governance and national development, particularly as Liberia continues to pursue its digital transformation agenda.
It emphasized that government information must reach citizens through accessible and reliable communication channels to ensure that people are properly informed about national policies and public programs.
The Ministry also stressed the importance of cooperation among government institutions in building a professional public information system that promotes transparency, addresses misinformation, and encourages public participation.
During the validation workshop, participants reviewed different sections of the draft strategy, discussed areas requiring improvement, and submitted recommendations for consideration.
The feedback from the workshop is expected to guide revisions to the document before it is submitted to the Cabinet for consideration and final approval.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications said the proposed strategy could help harmonize government messaging under the principle of “One Government, One Voice.”
The approach is intended to promote consistency in official communication while ensuring that government institutions provide reliable information and remain accountable to the public.
The Ministry further reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Ministry of Information and other government institutions to improve public communication, expand the use of digital platforms, and strengthen access to reliable information.
It said improved communication systems and digital inclusion would help ensure that technology and public information contribute to Liberia’s national development.
The proposed National Communications Strategy remains subject to further refinement and Cabinet consideration before its final approval and implementation.
