A day after state security officers, acting on orders, closed the famous Private Sports Bar & Restaurant on allegations of involvement and dealings in drugs-related activities, its management has hit back, detesting the closure and denying knowledge of drugs, saying “no illegal drugs have ever been found on its premises.”
Management said the entity has undergone three different security inspections conducted by state authorities since May 2026.
In a public statement issued Thursday, the management sought to reassure employees, customers, and the general public that the establishment remains a law-abiding business committed to cooperating with law enforcement authorities.
According to the statement, a Joint Security Team conducted a thorough search of the business at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, inspecting both the interior and exterior of the premises. Management said the operation concluded without the discovery of any illegal substances.
The company further claimed that Thursday’s operation marked the third security inspection carried out at the establishment since May this year, emphasizing that none of the inspections resulted in the discovery of illegal drugs.
The statement comes amid an ongoing criminal investigation involving an individual identified as Mr. Harris.
While acknowledging the investigation, the management said it is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities but declined to comment on the substance of the case, citing respect for the judicial process and the individual’s right to due process.
Addressing the temporary closure of the establishment, management said it was unaware of any court order or written legal directive authorizing the action before it was implemented. The company stated that it is consulting legal counsel to determine its legal rights and to seek clarification through the appropriate legal channels under the laws of Liberia.
Reaffirming its confidence in the country’s justice system, the management said it will abide by the final ruling of the court and urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors or misinformation while allowing the legal process to take its course.
The company concluded by assuring its customers and business partners of its continued commitment to operating within the confines of the law and cooperating with all lawful investigations.
