Grand Bassa County is experiencing pure projects dedication bonanza, according to enthusiatic residents, as President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. cuts ribbons to several projects – marking his resetting Liberia development agenda.
The projects dedication form formidable bedrock of the country’s 179th Independence Observance being held in Buchanan, Liberia’s second largest city after Monrovia.
Our reporter following the President said he began activities marking the Independence Day celebrations with the dedication of a series of development projects across Grand Bassa County.
The developments are considered significant highlights of the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and community empowerment.
Before entering Buchanan, the President and his delegation were warmly received at the Farmington River Bridge by Grand Bassa County officials, led by President Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence and Superintendent Karyou Johnson.
Traditional leaders, elders, and residents also formed part of the welcome ceremony which unraveled the country’s Independence Day festivities being hosted in Buchanan.
Upon arrival, the President was greeted with official engagements, beginning with the dedication of a newly constructed Welcome Gate at the Farmington River, a project undertaken by the Descendants of Grand Bassa Organization.
Speaking during the ceremony, President Boakai described the structure as a lasting symbol of the county’s pride, unity, and welcoming spirit.
He later commissioned a newly built Rest Station along the Farmington River Bridge. The facility, constructed through the efforts of Grand Bassa County District #1 Representative Isaac Bannie, is intended to provide travelers with a safe and convenient place to rest while entering or leaving the county.
President Boakai praised the citizens, county authorities, lawmakers, and development partners whose support made the projects possible. He emphasized that community-led initiatives play a vital role in complementing the government’s national development agenda by improving public infrastructure and enhancing the welfare of Liberians.
The Liberian leader also urged citizens to remain committed to promoting peace, unity, and national development, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved through collective effort and shared responsibility.
Continuing his tour, President Boakai stopped in St. John’s River City, where he dedicated a newly constructed Event Hall built by prominent Grand Bassa citizen Emmanuel Nuku Reeves. The facility is expected to serve as a venue for community gatherings and public events.
Upon arriving in Buchanan, the President officially dedicated the newly reconstructed Superintendent’s Compound, describing the project as an important investment in strengthening local governance and improving public service delivery.
The day’s activities concluded at the CLSG substation in Buchanan, where President Boakai ceremonially switched on electricity to illuminate the city, marking another milestone in efforts to improve access to reliable power in Grand Bassa.
The project dedications form part of a series of events leading to Liberia’s 179th Independence Day celebration, during which President Boakai is expected to host government officials, diplomats, and other international guests in Buchanan for the nation’s annual commemoration.
