SINKOR–The John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Center has received two new elevators procured by the hospital’s management under the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP), in a move aimed at addressing longstanding infrastructure challenges at the country’s major referral hospital.
The new elevators are expected to improve the movement of patients, medical personnel, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility once installation and commissioning are completed.
For decades, JFK Medical Center has relied on aging elevator systems that have experienced years of wear and tear, creating difficulties in moving patients and essential hospital materials between different floors and clinical areas.
The addition of the two new elevators is expected to ease some of these operational challenges and improve the hospital’s overall efficiency.
Hospital authorities say the elevators will facilitate the transportation of patients between wards and clinical departments, while also making it easier to move medical equipment, medicines, supplies, and other essential materials within the facility.
The new systems are also expected to improve accessibility for patients and visitors, support staff mobility, and contribute to a more efficient working environment for healthcare professionals.
The procurement forms part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure at JFK Medical Center and strengthen the quality and efficiency of services provided to patients.
The investment is being viewed as an important step toward modernizing the hospital’s facilities and creating a more patient-centered healthcare environment.
Once fully installed and operational, the elevators are expected to provide more reliable vertical transportation within the medical center and reduce some of the logistical challenges associated with the movement of patients and hospital resources.
The development comes as Liberia continues efforts to improve public healthcare infrastructure and strengthen the capacity of major health facilities to provide safe, accessible, and efficient services.
For JFK Medical Center, the arrival of the two elevators represents another step in addressing critical infrastructure needs while supporting the hospital’s broader goal of improving patient care and operational efficiency.
