MONROVIA-Liberian youths have been challenged by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to use their talents and creativity to drive the country’s digital transformation, describing them as one of Liberia’s greatest assets in building a modern, technology-driven economy.
Speaking Tuesday at the Liberia Technology Summit 2026 held at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, President Boakai urged young innovators, software developers, engineers, cybersecurity professionals and entrepreneurs to seize opportunities in the growing digital sector and contribute to national development.
The President expressed confidence in young people’s abilities and pledged his administration’s support for innovation and entrepreneurship.
“Liberia believes in you,” President Boakai declared, noting that the creativity, talent and determination of young people are critical to the country’s future.
He said the government is committed to creating an environment where innovative ideas can flourish, startups can grow and technological breakthroughs can emerge from Liberia.
“We want to create an environment where your ideas can flourish, where startups can grow, where innovation is rewarded, and where the next breakthrough that transforms lives can proudly bear the label, ‘Made in Liberia,’” he said.
President Boakai emphasized that digital transformation is not solely about technology but about empowering people and creating opportunities for economic growth and national progress.
He pledged continued investment in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital literacy and internet connectivity, while also promoting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, financial technology and digital public services.
The Liberian leader said his administration is working to establish policies that encourage innovation and attract investment, creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs to develop businesses capable of competing both locally and internationally.
He also encouraged young Liberians to view technology as more than a communication tool, describing it as a pathway to innovation, entrepreneurship and national service.
According to President Boakai, Liberia’s digital transformation cannot be achieved by government alone. He called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, universities, development partners, investors and civil society to create an ecosystem where innovation can thrive.
The President made the remarks during the Liberia Technology Summit 2026, held under the theme, “Government Digital Transformation: Building a Smarter Liberia.” The summit brought together government officials, technology experts, development partners, investors and innovators to explore strategies for accelerating Liberia’s digital agenda.
President Boakai concluded by urging participants to transform discussions at the summit into practical solutions that will create jobs, strengthen public services and improve the lives of Liberians, particularly the country’s young people.
