The Food Authority of Liberia (FAL) has welcomed home ten staff members who recently completed a three-week specialized training program in the People’s Republic of China aimed at strengthening the country’s food safety and supply chain management systems.
The training, sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and hosted by Henan University of Technology in Zhengzhou, provided participants with practical knowledge and international best practices in food safety, supply chain management, quality assurance, logistics, traceability, and regulatory systems.
Speaking during a welcome ceremony in Monrovia, Food Authority Director General Precellia Cherue congratulated the returning staff for successfully representing Liberia and the institution on the international stage.
She commended their commitment to professional development and encouraged them to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training to improve the Authority’s technical capacity and strengthen Liberia’s food safety systems.
According to the Food Authority, the training forms part of ongoing efforts to build the capacity of its workforce and enhance the country’s ability to ensure safe and high-quality food for consumers.
The Authority also expressed appreciation to the Government of the People’s Republic of China and Henan University of Technology for supporting the professional development of Liberia’s food safety personnel through international training opportunities.
FAL reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health by ensuring the availability of safe, wholesome, and quality food throughout Liberia, noting that strengthening the skills of its workforce remains central to achieving that goal.
The returning staff are expected to share the knowledge and experience acquired during the training with colleagues as part of efforts to improve food safety standards and regulatory practices across the country.
