Monrovia-The Liberia Anti-Trafficking and Scam Victims Support Initiative (LATSVSI) has raised public concern over the growing risks of human trafficking in Liberia, calling on citizens to remain vigilant and report suspected cases to the appropriate authorities.
LATSVSI Executive Director, Zokerseh B. Saye, and the organization’s Financial Secretary made the call on a Radio appearance during the week, where they discussed the dangers and effects of human trafficking with host Festus Taylor.
The LATSVSI representatives said human trafficking can involve deception, exploitation, forced labor and other forms of abuse, particularly targeting vulnerable individuals.
They urged members of the public to be cautious of individuals or groups involved in suspicious activities and to report suspected trafficking cases through the appropriate channels.
The organization also disclosed that it conducted a rescue operation in Paynesville on Monday, resulting in the rescue of three Nigerian nationals.
According to LATSVSI, the operation followed information suggesting that more than 20 Nigerian nationals had allegedly been trafficked in connection with the case.
The organization did not provide further details about the identities of the rescued individuals or the circumstances surrounding the alleged trafficking at the time of the announcement.
LATSVSI said the rescue operation is part of its broader efforts to identify trafficking victims, assist survivors and raise public awareness about trafficking networks and the methods allegedly used to exploit vulnerable people.
The organization is also calling for stronger cooperation among communities, relevant authorities and other stakeholders to help prevent trafficking and protect victims.
LATSVSI emphasized the need for greater support for trafficking survivors, including access to protection and other assistance as they recover from exploitation.
The organization encouraged anyone with information about suspected human trafficking activities to report such cases to the relevant authorities or contact LATSVSI for assistance.
