
MONROVIA – The arrest of an ambulance driver appears to have emboldened the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) to continuously uphold the values of discipline, professionalism, and public safety, vowing zero-tolerance in the conduct of duties by officers and drivers.
The ambulance drivers was arrested in connection with an incident involving the Presidential motorcade on Friday.
In a statement issued on June 12, the LNFS acknowledged information released by the Executive Protection Service (EPS) regarding the arrest and emphasized that the institution is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness.
According to the Fire Service, its leadership immediately launched internal administrative procedures upon learning of the incident and is cooperating fully with the Liberia National Police, the Executive Protection Service, and other relevant authorities to ensure a comprehensive and impartial investigation.
The LNFS stressed that it supports all lawful efforts aimed at establishing the facts surrounding the case and remains committed to accountability and transparency.
“The Liberia National Fire Service maintains a zero-tolerance policy for actions that compromise public safety, undermine national security procedures, or bring the institution into disrepute,” the statement noted.
As one of Liberia’s key emergency response institutions, the Fire Service said it remains dedicated to protecting lives and property while working closely with other security agencies to promote public safety, order, and confidence in national institutions.
The LNFS also thanked the public for its continued trust and assured citizens that it will continue to uphold the core values of service, discipline, integrity, and professionalism.
The statement was signed by Director General Hon. G. Wasuwah Barvoul, who reiterated the institution’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards while allowing the investigation process to take its course.
