MONROVIA–The Liberia National Police (LNP) has dismissed a senior officer assigned to Bong County following an administrative investigation that found him responsible for neglecting his duty in connection with the welfare of a detainee in police custody.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the LNP announced the dismissal of Chief Inspector Daniel G. Flomo (LNP-2355), who served as Deputy Commander of the Crime Services Division (CSD) at the Bong County Police Headquarters. The dismissal takes immediate effect.
According to the police administration, the decision followed findings from an internal investigation which established that Chief Inspector Flomo failed to take appropriate action to ensure that detainee Charles Kollie received urgent medical attention while being held in police custody.
The investigation reportedly found that officers assigned to the Bravo Shift had informed Flomo about the detainee’s worsening health condition. However, authorities said he failed to take the necessary steps to facilitate timely medical care, an omission the LNP described as a serious breach of duty.
The police administration stated that the action was taken in accordance with Section 8.4(c) of the Liberia National Police Act and Regulations of 2015, as well as Section 5.1(p) of the Administrative Instructions on Discipline and Professional Standards, which classify such conduct as misconduct.
As part of the dismissal process, Flomo has been instructed to immediately surrender all government-issued property, including his police badge, uniform, identification card, and any other official equipment, to the Human Resource Management Division.
The LNP further emphasized that the former officer is no longer authorized to identify himself as a member of the Liberia National Police.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and accountability, the police administration said it will continue to enforce disciplinary measures against officers whose actions or failures undermine public trust, professional ethics, and established policing standards.
The statement noted that the institution remains dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of duty of care and responsibility in the performance of law enforcement duties across the country.
