The Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has donated 100 hospital beds, six patient monitors, and six anesthesia machines to the Ministry of Health as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery across Liberia.
The donation, presented on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, underscores LPRC’s commitment to supporting national development and improving the wellbeing of Liberians through meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Presenting the medical equipment, LPRC Managing Director Amos B. Tweh described the contribution as more than a donation, emphasizing that it represents an investment in lives, hope, dignity, and the future of healthcare in Liberia.
According to Tweh, every hospital bed and piece of equipment donated has the potential to improve healthcare outcomes and save lives across the country.
“Today is a special day for LPRC because we are not merely turning over equipment; we are investing in lives and hope,” he said. “Every bed represents a mother who deserves to give birth with dignity, and every anesthesia machine represents an opportunity to save lives.”
The LPRC Managing Director noted that while the company’s primary responsibility remains ensuring the availability and sustainability of petroleum products in Liberia, it also recognizes the importance of supporting key sectors that directly impact citizens’ lives.
He highlighted health, education, youth empowerment, sports, and community development as areas where the company continues to make meaningful contributions in support of the government’s development agenda.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Government of Liberia, Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto expressed gratitude to the management and Board of Directors of LPRC for what she described as a timely intervention for the country’s healthcare sector.
Dr. Kpoto said the donated equipment would help improve healthcare services at medical facilities across Liberia, particularly at a time when the health sector continues to require increased support and investment.
“This donation is extremely important at this critical moment for our healthcare system,” she said. “LPRC has demonstrated that its contribution to national development extends beyond stabilizing fuel supply and prices. The company is also helping to save lives and making meaningful contributions to communities across Liberia.”
She further commended the management and board of the state-owned enterprise for their continued partnership with the health sector and their commitment to supporting national development efforts.
The donation reflects LPRC’s ongoing role as one of Liberia’s leading state-owned enterprises, complementing government efforts through strategic investments and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens nationwide.
Officials say the medical equipment will be distributed by the Ministry of Health to healthcare facilities across the country to help strengthen patient care and enhance the delivery of essential medical services.
