MONROVIA – RABAT, Morocco – The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Madagascar have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations through enhanced South-South cooperation following high-level talks held Tuesday in Rabat.
The discussions took place between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and Madagascar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alice N’Diaye.
Both sides highlighted the growing dynamism of relations between the two countries, describing the partnership as one rooted in friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation.
During the meeting, the Malagasy Foreign Minister praised the strong ties linking Antananarivo and Rabat, while recalling the lasting impact of the 2016 state visit of Mohammed VI to Madagascar. According to her, the royal visit significantly revitalized bilateral cooperation and contributed to sustainable development efforts across several sectors in Madagascar.
The ministers also welcomed the opening of the Embassy of Madagascar in Rabat in November 2024, describing the diplomatic milestone as a major step toward deepening cooperation and expanding engagement between the two nations.
Both governments agreed to elevate their partnership to a higher level in line with the vision of King Mohammed VI and Michaël Randrianirina, President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar.
As part of efforts to strengthen collaboration, the two countries agreed to convene the second session of the Joint Cooperation Commission in the coming months through diplomatic consultations.
The planned session is expected to broaden cooperation in several priority sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, renewable energy, youth employment, security, training, and capacity building.
