MONROVIA–Criminal Court “E” at the Temple of Justice has opened proceedings in the rape case involving Peter Bond Jallah, who has pleaded not guilty to charges brought against him by the Republic of Liberia.
Jallah entered his plea during his arraignment before the court after the charges were formally read in accordance with criminal procedure. His not-guilty plea clears the way for a full trial, where both the prosecution and defense are expected to present evidence, witnesses, and legal arguments.
The case is being heard before Criminal Court “E,” which handles serious criminal offenses, including sexual and gender-based crimes.
According to court records, Jallah, 63, was arrested on January 7, 2026, following a complaint filed by Madam Sattarus S. Kennedy. The complaint alleges that her 16-year-old son was sexually assaulted by Jallah and other individuals.
Investigators from the Liberia National Police (LNP) stated that the alleged incident occurred in the Airfield, Sinkor Sharks Community area of Monrovia. Police reports indicate that the alleged victim claimed to have had repeated encounters with the defendant while performing domestic services in the community.
The LNP further disclosed that its investigation included witness interviews, visits to the alleged crime scene, and other evidence-gathering measures. Authorities say the findings established probable cause to charge Jallah and others with gang rape.
With the defendant maintaining his innocence, the court is expected to establish a schedule for subsequent proceedings, including pretrial motions, witness testimonies, and the presentation of evidence. The matter remains pending before the court as legal proceedings continue.
