MONROVIA, LIBERIA — The Government of Liberia has earmarked approximately 607 kilometers of roads across the country for pavement as part of its broader infrastructure development agenda.
Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Public Works, Samuka Dunnoh, disclosed the plan while speaking to a cross-section of Liberians over the weekend.
According to Deputy Minister Dunnoh, the road projects are among several major infrastructure initiatives being implemented and prepared by the Boakai-Koung Administration, with emphasis on improving road connectivity across the country.
He said the government is making preparations for the coming dry season, during which several road projects are expected to advance.
Deputy Minister Dunnoh explained that the planned road works are intended to improve access between major communities, county capitals and commercial centers, while creating opportunities for economic activities and development.
He stressed that reliable road infrastructure remains critical to Liberia’s national development, particularly for the agriculture, trade, education and healthcare sectors.
Dunnoh said improved roads will also facilitate the movement of people and goods, helping to connect rural communities with major markets and service centers.
The Public Works official reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding and improving Liberia’s road network as part of efforts to accelerate development and improve living conditions across the country.
