Grand Bassa County has expressed profound appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for selecting the county as the host of Liberia’s 179th Independence Day celebration, describing the decision as a historic milestone that has brought lasting development and renewed hope to its people.
Delivering remarks during the official program, Grand Bassa County Superintendent Hon. Karyou Johnson thanked President Boakai, members of the Cabinet, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, development partners, and other distinguished guests for their presence and support.
Superintendent Johnson said the people of Grand Bassa deeply appreciate the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and expanding rural electrification, noting that these initiatives will have a lasting impact on the county’s development.
According to him, the celebration was more than a national event—it served as a catalyst for meaningful investment and progress in the county.
“You have done more than choosing Grand Bassa as the venue for this year’s Independence Day celebration,” Johnson said. “You have renewed hope, restored pride, and demonstrated that every county and every community matters in Liberia’s national development agenda.”
Johnson praised the Boakai administration’s commitment to decentralization, emphasizing that the government’s actions demonstrate that development should reach every part of the country rather than remain concentrated in the capital.
In recognition of the county’s progress, President Boakai commended Superintendent Johnson’s leadership and development efforts, describing him as a model for local governance.
“You have become one of the models we look up to,” President Boakai said, applauding the superintendent’s commitment to advancing development initiatives in Grand Bassa County. The President’s remarks underscored the administration’s appreciation for local leaders who are driving progress and improving the lives of their citizens.
The superintendent further urged Liberians to use the Independence Day celebration as an opportunity to strengthen national unity and work together toward building a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous nation where every citizen can thrive.
Welcoming both local and international guests to Grand Bassa County, Johnson described the county as a place rich in history, culture, and hospitality, expressing confidence that visitors would leave with a deeper appreciation of Liberia’s heritage.
He concluded by praying for God’s continued blessings upon President Boakai, the people of Grand Bassa, and the Republic of Liberia as the nation continues its journey toward sustainable development, decentralization, and national transformation.
