
FARMINGTON–FThe Kingdom of Morocco celebrated the 27th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the throne this week, with officials pointing to nearly three decades of strategic governance, institutional stability, and economic transformation as the foundation for the Kingdom’s future.
Looking ahead, the Kingdom reaffirmed its commitment to a deepened ties with Liberia.
In welcoming remarks marking the occasion, Ambassador Lahoucine Rahmouni noted that the anniversary is “not so much a note of self-satisfaction as it is a positive feeling rooted in confidence and peacefulness, but a feeling that provides strength and motivation to continue with determination.”
Ambassador Rahmouni credited the King’s leadership with delivering security and effective state institutions at a time of regional and global upheaval.
“In a regional and international environment with no shortage of fluctuations and upheavals, political and institutional stability is a rare, priceless commodity,” he said. “Today, stability is the key element in the development equation; it is the strategic asset we cherish in Morocco.”
Morocco was also praised for its capacity to manage crises, including proactive measures taken to address recent floods in the western and northern regions. Officials highlighted strong economic indicators, indicating Morocco’s growth rate stood at approximately 4.9% in 2025 and is expected to remain at or above that level in 2026.
According to officials, automotive and aviation remain key sectors driving the economy, with Morocco now stands as Africa’s leading car exporter with nearly 1 million cars a year in production capacity.
Exports from automotive and aviation have exceeded 40% of total exports, surpassing phosphates, Moroccan officials disclosed.
The country is exceeding in industrial revolution as it has joined the “elite club” of countries manufacturing aircraft engines and landing gears. According to officials, major projects are underway to make renewable energy a pillar of energy security. What is known as the “Morocco Offer” for green hydrogen was launched with licensing for an initial group of major projects.
Agriculture and tourism have also seen ceiling-raising levels. “A good rainy season boosted water and food security, supported by technology, training, and domestic investment,” the statement said, and a “historic milestone of nearly 20 million tourist arrivals was recorded in 2025.”
The Ambassador noted that 80% of national food and pharmaceutical needs are now met domestically, as part of a push for “consolidation of national sovereignty and strategic self-sufficiency.”
Also, human development and universal social protection programs were also cited as central to improving living standards and achieving “social and spatial justice.”
With legislative elections and a new government on the horizon, officials said a “new cycle” of development is beginning. The financial sector was urged to expand access to financing for SMEs and to mobilize national savings to fund cutting-edge projects.
He said plans are also advancing to build an industrial and technological base in defense and cybersecurity to strengthen “defense sovereignty” and position Morocco as a regional power in those industries.
on the international front, the Morocco envoy reaffirmed its commitment to partnerships across Africa and beyond, with specific mention of Liberia. The Kingdom expressed readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with Liberia in trade, investment, agriculture, and capacity building, adding that shared values of stability and development provide a basis for stronger ties between Rabat and Monrovia.
The Kingdom reiterated support for African integration through the African Union and ECOWAS, emphasizing Morocco’s role as a bridge for South-South cooperation and investment on the continent. It also highlighted its engagement with the United Nations and other international organizations to promote peace, sustainable development, and balanced partnerships.
“Under the leadership of His Majesty the King, Morocco managed to consolidate its position as a reliable, respected, and influential player on the global stage,” the Ambassador said. “This has enabled our country to deal effectively and confidently with all its partners, and to propose constructive partnerships and promising cooperation initiatives on key bilateral, regional and international issues.”
He stressed that the gains achieved “transcend governmental and parliamentary timeframes” and are the result of “years of positive developments and policies, thanks to strategic planning and the pertinence of the major choices made by our country.”
As Morocco enters its 28th year under King Mohammed VI, the plan is to build on security and stability, accelerate industrial and green transformation, and expand alliances, including with partners like Liberia, to secure prosperity for future generations.
