MONROVIA-The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Health and in collaboration with its development partners, has commenced a three-day National Health Review Conference aimed at assessing progress in the country’s health sector and charting a path toward Universal Health Insurance.
The announcement was made by Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Tuesday.
According to Minister Piah, the conference will provide a platform for government officials, healthcare professionals, development partners, civil society organizations, and representatives from all 15 counties to review achievements in the health sector, identify persistent challenges, and develop practical strategies to improve healthcare delivery nationwide.
A key focus of the conference is the introduction of Universal Health Insurance in Liberia, an initiative the Government says is intended to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare services for all citizens.
Minister Piah disclosed that the is expected to officially launch the conference.
He said participants will engage in presentations, county-level reviews, panel discussions, and collaborative working sessions designed to produce actionable recommendations for strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system.
According to the Government, the conference is expected to conclude with a comprehensive roadmap that will guide national health priorities through the end of 2026, reinforcing ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services and achieve better health outcomes for all Liberians.
